Projects Starting Soon - Fort Collins Bicycle Master Plan

Laurel Street, between Howes Street and Remington Street will be a test-bed for new structures and ideas to improve the bicycling environment. In 2014, three bicycle-vehicle collisions happened at the College Avenue and Laurel Street intersection. Swapping parking and bike lanes on the street, and adding more paint stripping to increase vehicle and bicycle distances are part of the project.

A two-mile stretch from Mountain Avenue to the Spring Creek Trail south of Prospect Road will also see improvements. Cushioned bike lanes with painted buffers and the installation of roundabouts at current four-way stop intersections will be part of the plan. A new counter will also be featured along Remington Street. This 6-foot tall eco totem will visually display the number of bicyclist who pass by each day, and a year-to-date total.
