FASTER helps fund new buses in Fort Collins

As federal transportation funding is reduced, the Colorado Department of Transportation has shifted focus to replacing or rehabilitating existing capital equipment. FASTER funding for Transfort will help the transit agency buy four replacement 40-foot buses in late 2015 or early 2016. The state transportation funding will contribute $200,000, in addition to a federal grant for $1.7 million and $100,000 from Transfort itself. Transfort also received $200,000 in operating funding for the FLEX service, which connects Fort Collins, Loveland, Berthoud, and Longmont -- the route will be expanded to Boulder in 2016.
