Fort Collins aims to build more protected bike lanes

Protected bike lanes may soon be coming to more roads in Fort Collins. Three upcoming projects - the Pitkin, Lincoln, and West Elizabeth corridors - are currently in the planning stages, with advocates and planners pushing for protected lanes. Protected bike lanes differ from buffered bike lanes because of the addition of bollards or other vertical separators. The goal of protected bike lanes is to provide additional safety - both perceived and actual - to entice more people to ride.
