A new system of sensors is being developed to measure and collect data until multiple sensor subsystems. The system, called Versatile Onboard Traffic Embedded Roaming Sensors (VOTERS), detects changes in material properties, voids and cracks. Using vibrations and sound waves, video cameras, and other tools, the system can detect the road's running surface and overall condition. It is hoped with more development, the system can be developed in a way to attach them to fleet vehicles.

For more information about VOTERS, read the article on the Daily Commercial News website.
