Lemay Avenue to Close 5 Days for Railroad Track Repairs

Great Western Railway Railroad Crossing on Lemay Avenue    Image Credit: Google Maps

The Great Western Railway railroad crossing on Lemay Avenue will be closed for construction, weather permitting, from Thursday July 14 through Monday July 18. The crossing is north of the intersection of Riverside Avenue and Lemay Avenue in Fort Collins. Detour signs will be posted along Riverside Avenue, Mulberry Street, Prospect Road, and Timberline Road to direct traffic around the construction.

The railroad crossing will be smoothed, with work to the railroad tracks as well as adjacent asphalt. The crossing experienced high volumes of traffic during the Mulberry Bridge replacement project last year. Currently, the tracks are several inches lower than the concrete apron, resulting in bumpy crossings for travelers.
