CDOT’s HOV Lanes Switch to HOV 3+ on Jan 1, 2017

Express Lanes logo.

Starting January 1, 2017, the Colorado Department of Transportation will shift the I-25 Express Lanes and the US 36 Express Lanes from HOV-2+ to HOV-3+. This means each HOV vehicle will need to have a driver and two additional passengers. Lanes will remain free for HOV vehicles. For those who only plan to carpool, they can pick up a switchable HOV transponder for free in spring 2017. The switch is meant to ensure a minimum speed for the lanes, while also providing funding to offset overall transportation funding decreasing.

More information about the switch to HOV 3+ is available at the CDOT Express Lane website.
