Among the 11 U.S. semifinalists announced yesterday, April 6, for the Hyperloop One Global Challenge are three Colorado routes. Outside of the U.S., another 24 routes are semifinalists in the Challenge. The 35 routes were selected from over 2,600 proposals and will be narrowed down to 12 finalists and then again to three eventual winners. The winning teams will explore project development and financing with the Los Angeles-based Hyperloop One company.

Hyperloop One proposes building low-pressure tubes that can move pods carrying passengers or freight up to 700 mph using magnetic levitation.

The three Colorado semifinalists include the "Colorado Hyperloop", which would connect Cheyenne, WY to Pueblo; the "Rocky Mountain Hyperloop" which would connect DIA to Pueblo, Vail, and Cheyenne, WY; and the "Rocky Mountain Hyperloop Consortium", which would connect Cheyenne, WY to Houston, TX.
