CDOT is joining transportation and safety departments nationwide by "going orange" today, April 5, for National Work Zone Awareness week. The public is encouraged to wear orange to bring attention to work zone safety.

National Work Zone Awareness Week is held annually to highlight motorist and worker safety in construction zones. In 2016, seven lives were lost in work zones in Colorado, with around 700 fatalities in work zones nationwide.

CDOT Executive Director Shailen Bhatt encourages motorists to slow down, put distractions down, and never drive under the influence.
