U.S. 34 Canyon to open temporarily for Easter Weekend

U.S. 34 through Big Thompson Canyon will open temporarily to the public for Easter weekend. The highway will be open to single-direction traffic led by a pilot car from 4:00 p.m Saturday until 8:30 a.m. Monday. Drivers should expect delays.

CDOT has only permitted local traffic access during specific hours throughout the winter, with the exception of Holidays. It is scheduled to reopen to the public before Memorial Day this year, with minimal traffic delays through the summer.
