Volkswagen Diesel Emissions Settlement Public Comment Period Open Thru 10/13

Colorado is expecting to receive $68.7M through the Volkswagen and Audi Clean Air Act Partial Settlement. The environmental mitigation trust fund provides moneys to offset excess air pollution from diesel cars. Currently, Colorado is taking public comment on a proposed plan for spending the money. Mitigation activities eligible for funding include:
  • Class 8 Local Freight Trucks and Port Drayage Trucks (Eligible Large Trucks) 
  • Class 4-8 School Bus, Shuttle Bus, or Transit Bus (Eligible Buses) 
  • Railroad Freight Switchers 
  • Class 4-7 Local Freight Trucks (Eligible Medium Trucks) 
  • Airport Ground Support Equipment 
  • Forklifts 
  • Light Duty Zero Emission Vehicle Supply Equipment 
  • Matching funds for projects eligible under the Diesel Emission Reduction Act (DERA)
