The USDOT and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced new federal guidance for Automated Driving Systems called A Vision for Safety 2.0. The guidance was developed through input from industry, state and local governments, safety and mobility advocates, and the public. Included are technical assistance to States, best practices for policymakers, and updated policy based on feedback from the public and Congressional hearings. USDOT will continue to update policy to ensure the guidance is flexible and evolving with the technology.
