Transportation Proposals Shift Funding Debate To Voters

Transportation funding has been a long-time issue in Colorado. Currently, Colorado legislators are drafting multiple ballot initiatives to go to Coloradans in November. Current proposals would raise sales taxes between $0.005 and $0.01, and be split between transportation bonds, local, and regional projects. CDOT estimates Colorado has a $9 Billion shortfall in unmet statewide needs, but how the state addresses the funding issues has been up for debate the last few years. Adding to the debate issue is the fact this year is an election year.
