Bustang Exceeds Ridership, Revenue Projections as it Hits 3-Year Anniversary

Three years ago, CDOT started the Bustang program. Bustang is an intercity bus service owned and operated by the State, connecting North I-25, South I-25, and the I-70 communities to Denver. In those three years, service has increased on every line, ridership has increased by more than 300 percent, and fare revenue has exceeded expectations.

Ridership on the North Line, connecting Fort Collins and Loveland to Denver, has seen monthly ridership grow from nearly 3,000 people to more than 8,000. Ridership between Colorado Springs and Denver has nearly doubled and Glenwood Springs to Denver has nearly tripled. This ridership has led to an increase in service, including weekend service, Bustang to Broncos games, and the RamsRoute between CSU and Denver.

In addition to expansions in place for this year, Bustang has targeted Greeley, Steamboat Springs, and one or two locations on the Eastern Plains as additional routes depending on funding and availability of other resources.
