Fort Collins was one of six agencies across Colorado to be awarded funding for new buses from the Volkswagen Settlement funding. The city-run Transfort will receive three propane and two battery-powered electric buses to replace existing diesel buses. The buses are expected to be in service between 2020 and 2021. Overall, the state awarded $14 Million to purchase 28 low-emission and zero-emission buses. Boulder, Colorado Springs, Eagle County, Gunnison valley, and the Denver Metro will receive the other buses.
