State transportation leaders ask for public input on possible Front Range passenger rail

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has selected a team to study the feasibility of building passenger rail service from Fort Collins to Trinidad to accommodate the growth that the region will see between now and 2040. The Southwest Chief & Front Range Rail Commission has been tasked to study the options available from alignment and service characteristics to cost estimates.
The commission published a survey that has already received thousands of responses, with roughly 90% of respondents reacting positively to the prospect of adding rail service to the region. The surveys, so far, have not addressed cost but once the commission knows more, that will be among the conversations they bring the public into the fold on.
