The head of the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), Sarah E. Feinberg, is scheduled to visit northern Colorado on June 17 to discuss train horn noise and its impacts in the region. U.S. senators Michael Bennet and Cory Gardner had invited Feinberg to visit
the region after the FRA opened the agency's train horn rule for public comment. The train horn rule regulates when and how train horns must be used and establishes requirements for "quiet zones." In a press release regarding the visit, Senator Bennet expressed the need for greater flexibility to create quiet zones. It is expected Feinberg will meet with local officials, business representatives, and residents to learn more about train horn impacts. The specifics of the visit, including locations and format, is currently under development. The FRA is accepting public comments on the train horn rule through July 5.
