In Colorado’s dry climate, wildfires can be a big problem
because of their destructive potential, but also because of the harmful particles
found in their smoke. The smoke can be especially harmful to those with heart
disease, respiratory illnesses, the very young, and the elderly. You can sign up to receive updates from the Colorado Department of Public Health &
Environment (CDPHE) when air quality is expected to become unhealthy. You can
also stay current on local air quality by checking the Colorado Air Quality Summary.
For other tips and resources, check out this notice from
CDPHE.
