On Monday, the Colorado Senate unanimously approved Governor Jared
Polis' appointment of Shoshona M. Lew to lead the Colorado Department of
Transportation (CDOT). Lew enters CDOT's Executive Director position after two
years as the Chief Operating Officer for the Rhode Island DOT. Lew replaces Mike
Lewis, who stepped into the role after Shailen Bhatt stepped down in December
2017.
As Executive Director, Lew will
oversee 3,000 employees and 23,000+ lane miles, while managing partnerships at all levels of government and across many industry sectors. In a statement issued by CDOT,
Lew stated,
“The responsibility of serving
as the executive director is at once humbling and exciting, and together we
have a tremendous opportunity to improve the lives of Coloradans through our
transportation system.”
Prior to her time in Rhode Island, Lew also served as Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Secretary for Budget and Programs at the U.S. Department of Transportation and several other roles as an aide within the Obama Administration. Read more from the
