Governor Polis announced the "Whole System Whole Safety" initiative today during Work Zone Awareness Week. The new program will take a systematic statewide approach to safety, including human factors, physical assets, and organization culture. Underlying the program are real goals and achievable results using actual activities that can be done now. Projects include: additional rumble strips and six-inch striping on roadways; additional driver education to understand the rules of the road; and integrating maintenance and operations divisions at CDOT headquarters to streamline incident command to speed up incident response.
