On Monday December, 16th, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) officially downgraded the air quality rating in Denver, Weld, and seven other front range counties from "moderate" to "serious". Under the new classification the state will be required to revise it's plan to reduce ground-level ozone which contributes to respiratory issues and is the main component of smog.
