The North Front Range Metropolitan Planning Organization (NFRMPO) Planning Council, comprised of fifteen member governments in the North Front Range and representatives from the State Transportation Commission and Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Air Pollution Control Division, has released the draft 2040 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) for a 30-day public comment period. This 30-day public comment period begins on Friday, August 7, 2015 and closes on Saturday, September 5, 2015.

Sean Conway, Chair, stated “the NFRMPO is pleased to release the 2040 Regional Transportation Plan containing 49 regionally significant projects totaling $583B that were identified through a cooperative planning process. The NFRMPO is seeking public comment on this plan, which is critical to continuing the long range planning process for addressing the transportation and economic needs of the North Front Range communities within the NFRMPO.”

The North Front Range region enjoys a diverse and growing community, and a unique environment. The rapid and continued growth of the region requires that transportation investments keep up with development to maintain a vibrant economy. To better plan for the future of the region’s transportation system, the NFRMPO has prepared the 2040 RTP. The 2040 RTP is a federally-mandated plan for Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) and includes a long-term transportation vision for the region. The 2040 RTP summarizes the existing transportation system: roadways, transit, bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, the environment, and includes a fiscally constrained corridor plan for the future.

A copy of the plan is available at the NFRMPO offices at 419 Canyon Avenue, Suite 300, Fort Collins, Colorado 80521.  The full 2040 RTP can be accessed on the NFRMPO website: http://www.nfrmpo.org/Projects/2040RTP.aspx.  Anyone needing special accommodations to access the content of the plan should contact the NFRMPO at staff@nfrmpo.org.

All comments on the 2040 RTP should be provided to Becky Karasko, AICP at (970) 416-2257 or rkarasko@nfrmpo.org by 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2015.
