Lower gas price means conversation about gas tax

Gas prices are at their lowest point in a few years, cars are more efficient and the gas tax hasn't been raised in more than two decades. However, infrastructure still needs funding for repair and expansion. With the fall in the gas price, more conversations have revolved around the idea of raising the gas tax. Current issues mean that CDOT will have insufficient funding to pay for the projects within the Statewide Transportation Plan 2040. Besides raising the gas tax, CDOT has looked into VMT fees and toll lanes.
