The Coloradoan took a look back at a survey it completed in 1993, asking residents of Fort Collins how they felt about population growth, transportation, and economic development within the City. These questions were related to a series of articles looking at Fort Collins in 2020. Now that 2020 has come, the Coloradoan compared answers in 1993 to a similar survey this year. Some interesting takeaways include:
  • An increase in the number of people who feel Fort Collins is growing too fast (57% in 1993, 69% in 2020)
  • An increase in the number of people who feel traffic is a problem within the City (27% in 1993, 60% in 2020)
  • An increase in the number of people supporting a passenger rail system in the Front Range (42% in 1993, 57% in 2020), but an increase in the number of people who would not support higher taxes to pay for the system (21% in 1993, 29% in 2020)
  • A decrease in the number of people who have never ridden Transfort (80% in 1993, 62% in 2020) and the number of people who have never ridden a bike to work (64% in 1993, 62% in 2020)
More information about the polls is available in the Coloradoan.
