Northern Colorado Regional Airport adds air traffic controllers working in mobile tower
Northern Colorado Regional Airport is making progress on the virtual air tower. In this phase of the project, planes will be directed by air traffic controllers starting on Monday, March 16. Once the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approves Phase 1, Phase 2 will commence with the remote tower going into "standby mode". FAA certification could happen by 2022 if these phases are successful. The lack of an air traffic control tower has been cited as reasons for no commercial service at the airport.
