The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) kicked off a new awareness campaign with a memorial at Denver’s Union Station for the pedestrians who lost their lives on Colorado roads in 2019. The memorial includes 76 pairs of shoes honoring each pedestrian fatality last year.

The Left Behind campaign appeals to Coloradans emotions by highlighting the devastation of a pedestrian crash by showing the personal belongings which are left behind after a crash. The campaign seeks to create more awareness of pedestrians on Colorado roads asking drivers to give their full attention and make sure all road users reach their destination safely.
